The clients for this project were a Brooklyn couple soon expecting their second child. They wanted a cheerful, masculine nursery with bold style that made up for the room's small footprint. We were faced with a few obstacles from the onset—the room was long and narrow and lacked windows and closets. The trick to making the room seem bigger was to pull focus to the far wall, adding authentic reclaimed wood paneling to accentuate the tall ceilings. We also introduced almost wall-to-wall carpeting to lighten up the floors and give Jonah a soft place to play. Bright orange and navy accents were added to liven up the neutral cream background. We chose a woodland theme for the room as a counterpoint to Jonah’s city life, using fox and bear accessories, a colorful custom dream catcher hung over the crib, and a Dhurrie rug.
