This uptown apartment, with magnificent views of the East River and 59th Street Bridge, was a gut-renovation. Originally a two bedroom with a closed-off galley kitchen, the owners wanted a large space for entertaining. We made the bold decision to remove one bedroom and open-up the kitchen, creating an airy room for circulating guests in layered shades of grey. For the bedroom we aimed for a warm hotel-esque retreat that doubled as a workspace. A geometric carpet extending from the hall into the bedroom tied together the living and bedroom spaces by marrying the golds, greys and lucite accents of each room. Bold prints were added to liven the neutrality of the color schemes and make the apartment’s interior as stunning as the views.
